A fresh start, A new direction

Let me paint the picture of why this blog is here.

Currently, in my midwest state of Iowa – gas prices are almost $5 per gallon – the highest I’ve ever seen it, by far. Food prices have doubled and unemployment is, what has to be, a record high. The cost of education continues to increase every year. We are still seeing the long-term effects of a global pandemic.

Now, let me tell you a bit about myself.

My name is Katie – Hello! I was born and raised in the sweetest Dutch town in the United States. I left it for a few years, but moved back to raise a family and enjoy the charm and friendly faces. I am a wife to a wonderful man who works hard at his 8-5 job and enjoys riding dirtbikes, four-wheelers, and mountain bikes in his spare time. We have two children – a soft-hearted, sweet daughter, and a sour-patch, wild-child son. I love them both with all of my heart and would give up anything for them. We also have two dogs, and a poor old cat (for hopefully a while longer). I just lost my mom suddenly in 2021, and am working through the grief and all of the “new” things that happen when you lose your mom. I love to travel, explore, eat ALL of the good food, and stare at the night sky or a nice sunrise (or sunset). I also love Jesus and strive to be a disciple of His word.

I am a Registered Nurse, and have been blessed to be part of probably hundreds of birthdays. Our hospital is small, so I do Labor + Delivery and postpartum care. I LOVE being a part of this kind of nursing. I am also a Certified International Health Coach, event planner, and volunteer extraordinaire. Yes – I do a LOT of different things, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. We will get into all of that at a later time.

The point of this blog is to share a little bit of every part of my life. My heritage, my background, my job, my interests, my adventurous spirit, and my passion for helping others. I want to share budget-saving tips, healthy recipes, my favorite workouts, local activities (on a budget), and motherhood hacks – along with a little bit of humor.

This is Blog Number ONE. It’s nice to meet you!
